Pulled the trigger....

Pulled the trigger....

Postby El Jay » Fri Jul 30, 2010 5:54 pm

After all of the posts online about the JK's front axle's faults (tubes tearing and bending and the factory "C" not being strong enough and those bending), I pulled the trigger on

Image

It's the pro rock JK "unlimited" 44. 1/2" walled tubes, new c's for the ball joints, and the c's have been welded for better caster angles. And according to dynatrac, it's over 2 1/2 times stronger than the factory housing. Let's see me break this...

Now it just needs to show up!

I was 2 for 6 on no cahones with the XJ. It did not like me coming down there. That was the one single place that I did the most damage to it. In 10 trips to moab with it I only hosed 2 mufflers...

Scott, did 2HD tear up your JK?

El Jay,

Your JK is a Rubicon correct? What are your plans for your front Dana 44 axle housing? I'm interested.

I took the XJ up 2HD a couple of times, never had any major issues (other than my PS pump dieing on the first time I went on it). I know the JK is wider, but not that much. I'm game!

Brian,
Yup, Rubicon 44 housing. I don't know when it's going to get installed (it has to show up first, and dynatrac isn't going to start building them until after the 15th). Northridge said 6-8 weeks for delivery, then I have to figure out who is going to do the install. I'm either going to Mt Logan in SLC or M4O in moab to do it, but I will have the axle crate to bring the old one back in...

We'll figure out the details after it shows up.

No it's those who have to fix ALL their XJ's becouse they are all undrivable now after 2hd and those who get to wax and instead of fixing their Jeeps they can save up to buy more for their Jeeps!

Who's is "undrivable"? I believe Tyler drove it all the way home....
But, there is also the saying "if it ain't broke, you ain't wheeling"

Should we split this into it's own thread? I think this debate could go on awhile....Image
