March 20th club run - WWOR get together

Postby Jeephacker » Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:38 pm

The date for this run is Saturday March 20th

This is a joint club run and BBQ. We are going to meet up with Wild West in Mountain Home and head down to Bruneau. We are going to split up based on rig capability and enjoy a day of wheeling. Afterwords, we are going to meet up as a large group to hang out and have dinner.
    Trails:
Diff Hanger - This is a short trail that rate moderate to slightly difficult. A skilled driver can do it without risk to body damage.
Lizard Gulch/Hooker Canyon - This is an easy to moderate trail that can be done with a near stock rig.
Gauntlet - Extreme trail for those who are not afraid to get up close and personal with some big rocks
    Rig requirements:
Diff Hanger - 31" tires, tow points front and rear, and a locker is recommended
Lizard Gulch/Hooker Canyon - 31" tires, tow points front and rear
Gauntlet - 35" tires, lockers front and rear, tow points front and rear, winch
    Trail Boss: Harvey London
    When: Saturday, March 20th
Meeting Place in Mt. Home: (directions link)
Chevron just off Exit 90 (I'm working on getting the exact address)

        Mountain Home, ID 83647
Time: 9:00 am with pull out at 9:30 am
Meeting Place in Boise: (directions link)
        Albertsons
        6560 South Federal Way
        Boise, ID 83716
Time: 7:30 am with pull out at 8:00 am

If you are leaving from Nampa please go here for details.

I would like to make this run,I'll try to get all my junk in one pile by then and if the weather will hold up,open jeep and no heater(yet) makes for a frosty day,I did take it on a snow run though and survived in pretty good shape.

Is there mud on this run? I don't mind it on my rig just not on me :(

I don't think Brenda realized that there was a run scheduled when she planned Brandon's 5th Birthday party!
Oh well, I guess she'll be entertaining a bunch of kids without me cuz I'm going wheelin!

Just kidding.

<sigh>
I tried to tell her we could have cake at the BBQ after the run. And that the clubs could even sing to him too.

She didn't go for it.

You guys have fun, I'll be at Wahooz.

Well just pulled out the track locked rear end to rebuild and put in the open rear. (whole axles). Going to repair the hubs (make stronger). And test. I might have to go wild. I will be there. YA

Run update.

Harvey, Chuck, Gabe, and myself did a pre-run with some WWOR members yesterday. It was a great time. We ran Gaunlet up, then Diff Hanger down.
Chuck rolled his buggy, well, he was spotting and his passenger was driving. Jeff McKlusky, WWOR, (sorry if the spelling is wrong Jeff) rolled his TJ, on seemingly flat ground! Rock jumped up out no where and flipped him!
We may need to update trail ratings?

Gauntlet is HARD. Lockers front and rear, 5-8 psi tires, winch, EXPECT body damage.

Diff Hanger has some VERY tight spots. One locker min, or very good limited slips and skilled driver. Post says 31" tires, 33's maybe better. Winch may come in very handy. And no whining if you dent a body panel or two, especially if you do not have rocker guards.

Not trying to scare anyone off, and Harvey can trump my post, just be very prepared if attempting these two trails.

Gauntlet and Diff Hanger as well as Hooker are about 10 miles out of Bruneau.

OK then. I believe since I took out the track locked rear-end I will stick with the hooker canyon. I would attempt diff hanger with the open dif but I believe I would like to drive out. Slowly getting items to maneuver these trails. Then it will be (accent like Apu on Simpsons) FOLLOW MEEEE
